The Making of Mr Rubbish Man
Meet Mr Rubbish Man – a creative project with an important environmental message!
Mr Rubbish Man was created using a large cardboard box rescued from recycling, chip packets from the school feeding scheme, and a variety of litter collected from the shoreline, school playground, local park, nature trails, and shopping centre areas.
Over a period of 7 weeks, the Foundation Phase learners spent their break times carefully gluing the collected rubbish onto the cardboard structure, transforming waste into a unique piece of artwork.
The aim of the project was to raise awareness about the amount of litter found in our environment and to show how discarded materials can be collected, recycled, and creatively repurposed. Mr Rubbish Man became a powerful visual reminder of the importance of caring for our surroundings.
The project is also being used to inspired the Foundation Phase learners to draw their own rubbish men and writing creative stories about a rubbish man.
